AN OVERSEAS BLEND – Score: 6.5/10
Very few people in Europe are familiar with this whisky from the Diageo group, and for good reason—its primary market lies in the Americas, particularly in Mexico and Colombia. Tonight, I am discovering this blend for myself, whose composition is based on fruity and honeyed single malts such as Glen Elgin, Dalwhinnie, and Cragganmore.
Moreover, this is an older version of the brand, which, in addition to mandarin and woody notes, carries subtle sulfurous hints—an intriguing characteristic that only whiskies predating the 1990s can offer.
Of course, this remains an entry-level whisky, and its finish is not the most lingering. However, it is pleasant on the palate and, in my opinion, holds its own against Chivas Regal or Johnnie Walker, if not surpassing them.
A worthwhile discovery if you find yourself across the Atlantic.
