Bunnahabhain 12 years (2010’s)

A CLASSIC IN PERIL – Score: 6.5/10

The Bunnahabhain Twelve-Year-Old is a great classic in the small world of single malts, ever since 1984 when Bunnahabhain began distributing its malt under its own name rather than to blenders.

The one we’re tasting tonight is the third generation with the label featuring Roman numerals. This labeling dates back to the 2010s.

You can distinguish the influence of sherry with notes of raisin and beeswax. However, the tasting is short-lived. The finish quickly moves to wood and talc.

Still a pleasant whisky, though much less impactful than the earlier generations. Nevertheless, it’s a good whisky to start exploring the world of single malts.
