A SCOUT’S DESSERT – 7.5/10
The Islay festival always offers us little surprises, sometimes unpleasant but often very pleasant. Today, our attention is on this bottling from the Bunnahabhain distillery, which, for the occasion, has released an extraordinary sherry cask, a Canasta, to finish this whisky.
An unusual aging process that certainly piques our curiosity.
The palate is indulgent, bringing notes of caramel and chocolate with marzipan. The finish is slightly minty. The notes are ultimately similar to those of an Oloroso, so no groundbreaking taste revolution is to be expected.
This is likely an attempt that won’t be repeated in the future given the lack of originality in the flavors.
Nonetheless, it remains a pleasant whisky to taste.
