Daftmill 2011 – Summer Release

A JAR OF CEREALS – Score: 7/10

Daftmill may not share the reputation or heritage of distilleries such as Macallan, Springbank, or Glendronach, but the quality of its distillate is undeniable.

This small farm distillery, tucked away in the northern Lowlands, operates discreetly, far from the gaze of distillery-hopping tourists, delivering seasonal gems in limited quantities.

Let’s see if the summer 2011 edition proves as enticing as its predecessors.

Once again, the texture is rich and velvety—just the way I like it. This provides structure on the palate and helps preserve the depth of flavors. A true concentration of cereals strikes the taste buds, with a slightly powdery feel and fresh almonds. Vanilla plays its part beautifully, extending into an elegant and lingering finish.

What more can be said, except to thank the Cuthbert brothers for these moments of pure quality?
