A LEMON LOST IN A WHEAT FIELD – Score: 6/10
Encouraged by previous delightful experiences with Dailuaine, I once again try my luck with this bottling from Signatory Vintage’s Cask Strength collection.
Generally satisfied with the offerings from the Edinburgh house founded by Andrew Symington in 1988, my initial bias is therefore positive.
The tasting notes confirm the fruity character of Dailuaine’s productions. We observe notes of lemon and fresh grains induced by maturation in bourbon casks. The finish is strongly peppery (white pepper), which is surprising considering the low alcohol content around 46%, indicating poor alcohol integration.
A pity, because the whisky was pleasant overall, but the imbalance is far too significant to make it acceptable.
