UN BENDRONACH – Score: 6/10
Ca faisait un bout de temps que je souhaitais goûter ce Glendronach qui traîne sur mon étagère depuis quelques années.
C’est grâce à l’échange d’échantillons avec un ami que j’ai finalement l’occasion d’y goûter.
Le résultat est sympathique sans être transcendant. On sent bien l’influence du porto (même si cela ne doit pas être un grand porto) mais la tourbe, quand à elle, est plutôt légère.
L’attaque est sucrée, un peu collante, proche du solvant. La tourbe s’exprimera en finale avec une légère pointe corsée.
Un whisky qui, à l’aveugle, ferait plus pensé à un BenRiach Wood Finish qu’un Glendronach.
Décevant mais pas non plus à jeter.

It’s been a while since I wanted to taste this Glendronach that has been lying on my shelf for a few years.
It was through swapping samples with a friend that I finally got the chance to taste it.
The result is nice without being transcendent. We can clearly feel the influence of the port (even if it shouldn’t be a great port) but the peat is rather light.
The attack is sweet, a little sticky, close to the solvent. Peat comes through on the finish with a light bodied hint.
A whisky that, blindly, would seems more like a BenRiach Wood Finish than a Glendronach.
Disappointing but not to throw away either.
