Glenlossie 2009 12 years – Artist Collective #5.5

LOW RELIEF – Score: 6/10

One of the most productive distilleries in Scotland, even though it produces almost no Single Malt, Glenlossie massively supplies the blending industry. It boasts six stills and shares the site with another distillery of the same profile, namely Mannochmore.

This type of distillery delights independent bottlers seeking affordable whiskies to resell at premium prices.

Such is the case with La Maison du Whisky, which selected this Glenlossie cask for the fifth edition of its Artist Collective collection.

A first-fill bourbon cask that rested for twelve years in the distillery’s warehouses before being bottled by the renowned Parisian house at a dilution rate of 43.0%.

The result is, to say the least, mixed. The grain is omnipresent and barely marked by the bourbon cask. The texture is greasy, and the finish is dominated by intense wood and green mint.

A whisky without depth and without soul, yet not necessarily bad. There are better options at this price.
