Laphroaig 10 years (2000’s)

PROUSTIAN MADELEINE – Score: 7.5/10

There are flavours, objects, and tastes that resonate so deeply they become etched in your memory forever. This phenomenon also occurs with whisky.

For me, that whisky is the Laphroaig 10 Year Old from the 2000s, which introduced me to the world of peat and for which I have a particular affection.

What a pleasure it is to return to it constantly, like a home you eagerly long for after long days away.

Its grassy and smoky notes, with that characteristic peat, transport us immediately to the distillery’s docks, while the subtle hints of liquorice in the finish delight the palate.

So, is the Laphroaig 10 Year Old the best whisky of my life? Certainly not. But it is one for which I feel a certain nostalgia, especially knowing that it is becoming increasingly rare and that prices are skyrocketing for this bottle.

If you come across this bottle in a shop, buy it: you will own a piece of history.
