EXPENSIVE DILUTED WHISKY – Score: 7.5/10
We are breaking out the wallet tonight by opening a bottle of 25-year-old Macallan. The gap between 18 years (around 400 euros) and 25 years (around 2200 euros) is incomprehensible. But if there are fools like me willing to pay this amount, Macallan would be wrong not to take advantage of it.
The version tasted tonight was bottled in 2023 and is diluted to 43%.
We begin the tasting of this liquid gold and immediately recognize the Macallan style characterized by lightness, subtlety, and a watery texture. The flavors are undeniably marked by sherry, with notes of red fruits and industrial ground coffee.
The woody finish is persistent yet always subtle.
An enjoyable whisky but clearly overpriced. The quality-to-price ratio is largely unfavorable.
