AN INSIPID CYANIDE – Score: 2/10
In the Harmony series, the latest addition is the Macallan Amber Meadow. The name suggests that we are venturing into an intense cereal profile.
Released in 2023 and bottled at 44.2% alcohol, it follows some minor gems like the Smooth Arabica, which was quite a success. This version is a mix of aging in bourbon casks and wine-seasoned sherry casks.
The result is far from satisfactory. The notes are severely bitter and chalky, which completely overwhelm the subtle almond notes that attempted to emerge. The finish lingers on bitter wood reminiscent of quinine bark.
A significant disappointment for this latest cuvée.
