UN WHISKY CULINAIRE (DIABETIQUE S’ABSTENIR) – Score: 8,5/10

Glengyle est, à ma connaissance, l’une des seule distillerie ne produisant pas de whisky sous son nom (avec Knockdhu). La raison étant que la marque “Glengyle” est déjà exploitée par la distillerie Loch Lomond pour l’un de ses blend.

Dès lors, cette distillerie renaissante, labellise ses productions sous le charmant nom de Kilkerran.

Voici l’expression 8 ans d’âge vieillie en fût de Oloroso ayant été flambé à nouveau.

Je suis admiratif sur la couleur qu’on pu obtenir les experts de Glengyle en 8 ans seulement. De plus, ils devaient posséder un excellent fût car la puissance du Sherry est exceptionnelle dans ce malt.

Un nez fruité et hypersucré, plein de prunes mûres, de fruits rouges et une présence carnée (style fond brun ou sauce BBQ) plutôt surprenante.

Au palais, une texture onctueuse, enveloppante, très sucrée (miel de bruyère, cassonade, sirop de candy) puis les fruits rouges entre en action (cerises noires, mûres, myrtilles, sirop de Liège) pour finir en café noir (style espresso forte, coca cola)

Par contre, je recommande vivement d’y ajouter une demi capsule d’eau pour réduire l’agressivité éthylique qui est plutôt forte et cacherait tout les arômes.

Le score d’ailleurs est mis suite à cette adjonction d’eau sinon, on tomberait à 6/10

Glengyle is, to my knowledge, one of the sole distillery that does not produce whisky under its name (with Knockdhu). The reason being that the “Glengyle” brand is already operated by the Loch Lomond distillery for one of its blends.

From then on, this reborn distillery labeled its productions under the charming name of Kilkerran.

Here we have the expression 8 years of age aged in Oloroso re-charred casks.

I admire the color that the Glengyle experts were able to achieve in just 8 years. In addition, they must have had an excellent cask because the power of Sherry is exceptional in this malt.

A fruity and hyper-sweet nose, full of ripe plums, red fruits and a rather surprising meaty presence (brown background style or BBQ sauce).

On the palate, a creamy, enveloping, very sweet texture (heather honey, brown sugar, candy syrup) then red fruits come into play (black cherries, blackberries, blueberries, Liège syrup) to finish in black coffee (strong espresso style , Coca Cola)

On the other hand, I strongly recommend adding a few drops of water to reduce the ethyl aggressiveness which is rather strong and would hide all the aromas.

The score is also set following this addition of water otherwise, we would fall to 6/10
