PAS LE PIRE DES ARDBEG MAIS ON S’EN RAPPROCHE – Score 5,5/10

J’ai toujours une grande méfiance pour les distilleries un peu trop axée sur le marketing (genre Glenmorangie, Glenlivet, Glenfiddich….ou plus récemment, Ardbeg et Macallan)

Dès lors, lorsque l’opportunité d’acheter un set de samples des éditions limitées de Ardbeg m’est apparue, je n’ai pas hésité de la saisir. Afin de savoir à quoi m’en tenir à moindre coût.

Dans le même set que le sample précédent ce Ardbog fût dégusté le lendemain du An Oa. Etais-je dans un mauvais jour ? Etait-ce le mauvais moment ? En tout cas, cet Ardbeg me déçu sincèrement.

Beaucoup trop de vanille, de citron et un manque de caractère criant. Une finale pauvre, malgré le retour – léger – de la tourbe, laisse une impression de trop peu. Présence en bouche beaucoup trop faible pour un Ardbeg qui nous a habitué à beaucoup mieux.

Dommage car pour le prix, (on tourne tout de même à près de 180€ la bouteille) on pourrait s’attendre à mieux.

Une version limitée de 2013 qui me laisse dubitatif. Mais le pire est à venir….

NOT THE WORST OF ARDBEG BUT WE’RE GETTING CLOSER – Score 5.5 / 10

I have a great distrust of distilleries that are a little too focused on marketing (like Glenmorangie, Glenlivet, Glenfiddich … or more recently, Ardbeg and Macallan)

So when the opportunity to purchase a limited edition of an Ardbeg sample set popped up, I didn’t hesitate to take it. So I know what to expect at a lower cost

In the same set as the previous sample, this Ardbog was tasted the day after An Oa. Was I having a bad day? Was this the wrong time? In any case, this Ardbeg sincerely disappointed me.

Too much vanilla, lemon and a glaring lack of character. A poor finish, despite the – slight – return of the peat, leaves an impression of something missing. Presence in the mouth is much too weak for an Ardbeg which has accustomed us to much better.

Too bad because for the price, (we still run around € 180 a bottle) we could expect more.

A limited version from 2013 that leaves me skeptical. But the worst is yet to come….
