UN MELANGE DE MELASSE ET DE MIEL INDUSTRIEL – Score: 3,5/10

Petit horizontale de Glenfarclas pour les prochains jours en démarrant par ce Glenfarclas millésimé 1997 de 11 ans d’âge produit en 9000 exemplaires et titrant à 55,5%

Bien évidemment, chez Glenfarclas, c’est le finish en fût de Sherry qui prime (rarement des fûts de Porto) et donc, nous nous attendons à du tanin, du fruits rouges, du corps bien ferme.

Le nez n’est déjà pas très agréable, une âcre odeur chimique s’en dégage, me rappelant les odeurs de la brasserie Fuller’s à Londres, sur le Chiswick Mall, le long de la Tamise.

Le palais ne s’en sort pas mieux. Une saveur de mélasse, de caramel trop présente, une présence éthylique trop forte, du miel industriel et, en sous bassement, quelques très fantomatiques notes de fruits trop mûrs.

L’ajout d’eau améliore très peu l’expérience gustative, révélant même plus encore ce goût de mélasse.

Small horizontal of Glenfarclas for the next few days starting with this 11-year-old 1997 Glenfarclas produced in 9000 copies and grading 55.5%

Obviously, at Glenfarclas, it is the finish in Sherry cask that takes precedence (rarely Port casks) and therefore, we expect tannin, red fruits, and a very firm body.

The nose is already not very pleasant, a pungent chemical smell emanating from it, reminding me of the smells of Fuller’s Brewery in London, on Chiswick Mall, along the Thames.

The palate is not doing any better. A flavor of molasses, of too much caramel, an excessively strong ethyl presence, industrial honey and, in the basement, some very ghostly notes of overripe fruit.

Adding water improves the taste experience very little, revealing that molasses taste even more.

Great disappointment for this Glenfarclas Cask Strength Premium Edition 1997
