De passage à Waterloo, déposant quelques bouteilles chez l’un des membres du whisky club “Highlanders”, quel ne fût pas ma “surprise” (sic) d’être convié à une nouvelle dégustation de malt.
Décidément, que des hommes de bonne volonté parmi les amoureux du whisky.
La première dose sera un Linkwood 2008 de 11 ans d’âge titrant à 52,9% et embouteillé par Claxton’s, récent embouteilleur anglais cherchant à se faire un trou dans le monde bien encombré du whisky.
Ce que j’apprécie chez Linkwood, c’est la constance de sa production. Sur les 6 bouteilles que j’ai eu le plaisir de goûté, aucune n’était exceptionnelle mais aucune n’était médiocre. Il y a toujours une belle texture, une saveur agréable.
Cette version ne dérogera pas à la règle et c’est un bel équilibre éthylique, mêlant les céréales aux fruits confits, les épices au boisé. La texture, comme à son habitude, se révèle toujours aussi onctueuse.
Un bon whisky d’apéritif.
A CANDIED FRUIT CAKE – Score: 7/10
While being in Waterloo, dropping off a few bottles at one of the members of the “Highlanders” whisky club, what was my “surprise” (sic) to be invited to another malt tasting.
Certainly, only men of good will among whisky lovers.
The first dose will be a 2008 11 year old Linkwood grading 52.9% and bottled by Claxton’s, a recent English bottler looking to cut a hole in the crowded whisky world.
What I like about Linkwood is the consistency of their production. Out of the 6 bottles I have had the pleasure to taste, none were exceptional but none were mediocre, either. There is always a nice texture, a pleasant flavor.
This version will be no exception to the rule and it is a nice ethyl balance, mixing cereals with candied fruits, spices with oak. The texture, as usual, is always so smooth.
A good aperitif whisky.
