UN WHISKY DE CHEZ FAUCHON – Score: 8/10
Ce soir, on attaque du solide : la mythique distillerie Brora que l’on pourrait comparer au Phénix vu qu’elle renaîtra bientôt de ses cendres.
Brora, qui s’appella intiallement Clynelish, avant que la distillerie “Clynelish” que nous connaissons actuellement, lui ravisse son nom, en 1968.
C’est donc un embouteillage Diageo et son onéreuse série “Rare Malts” que nous allons découvrir ce soir avec cette version distillée en 1982 soit un an avant la fermeture de la distillerie.
La dégustation commence bien avec une belle onctuosité très pâtissière, suivie par des notes de fruits (banane, pêche, raisin,…) alliées aux effluves de vanille bourbon. La tourbe vient s’y mêler gentiment et en douceur pour ne plus quitter notre palais durant une finale moins longue que l’on ne l’aurait souhaité.
Ce sera le bémol de ce whisky qui nous laissera un peu sur notre soif.
Par contre, le prix (1200€ minimum), découragera la plupart d’entre nous.

Tonight, we’re going for something solid: the legendary Brora distillery, which could be compared to the Phoenix, since it will soon be reborn from its ashes.
Brora, who was originally called Clynelish, before the “Clynelish” distillery we know today, took its name in 1968.
It is therefore a Diageo bottling and its expensive “Rare Malts” series that we are going to discover this evening with this version distilled in 1982, one year before the closure of the distillery.
The tasting starts well with a beautiful creaminess, very pastry, followed by notes of fruit (banana, peach, grape,…) combined with the aromas of bourbon vanilla. The peat blends in nicely and smoothly done so that it never leaves our palate during a finish that is shorter than we would have liked.
This will be the downside of this whisky which will leave us hanging by a thread.
On the other hand, the price (1200 € minimum), will discourage most of us.
