DU MALT, ENCORE DU MALT, RIEN QUE DU MALT – 6/10
Petite visite du côté de Knockdhu, la distillerie qui, pour ne pas être confondue avec sa concurrent Knockando, a préféré appelé son produit An Cnoc. (Enfin, Diageo a su se montrer persuasif)
An Cnoc est, depuis 1988, la propriété de Inverhouse qui l’utilise dans la plupart de ces blends (Catto’s, MacArthur’s, Hankey Bannister,…).
Ce soir, donc, c’est la découverte de ce malt de 12 ans d’âge, entrée de gamme chez An Cnoc.
Niveau texture, cela tient la route. C’est huileux, permettant au palais de distinguer les différentes saveurs. Rien de très extraordinaire dans ce malt somme toute très classique : du malt, des céréales, une molécule de vanille, une autre de miel, une finale (pas si courte que ça) de boisé.
Rien d’affolant dans ce whisky (mais bon, je ne m’attendais pas non plus à une merveille pour 35€).
Il boxe dans la catégorie des Glenfiddich ou Glenlivet 12 ans

Short visit to Knockdhu, the distillery which, not to be confused with its competitor Knockando, preferred to call its product An Cnoc. (Well, Diageo pushed really hard for it)
An Cnoc is, since 1988, the property of Inverhouse which uses it in most of its blends (Catto’s, MacArthur’s, Hankey Bannister,…).
Tonight, therefore, is the discovery of this 12-year-old malt, entry level at An Cnoc.
Texture level, it holds up. It’s oily, allowing the palate to distinguish the different flavors. Nothing very extraordinary, though, in this malt which is all in all very classic: malt, cereals, one molecule of vanilla, another of honey, a finish (not that short) of wood.
Nothing maddening about this whisky (but hey, I did not expect a big shot for 35 € either).
