TROP JEUNE, TROP TÔT, TROP TRANSPARENT – Score: 3,5/10

Après la série de blend, voici un détour vers une distillerie non écossaise. J’ai déjà eu l’occasion de déguster des whiskies non écossais, notamment un Amrut. Cette fois, nous irons en France, en Bretagne plus précisément où la distillerie Warenghem nous a concocté cette bouteille de Armorik 2013 Single Cask #2505.

Premier Armorik que je goute, étant français, j’ai mon coeur de patriote qui bat un peu plus fort en espérant que mes concitoyens ont réussi à créer un whisky aussi bon qu’en Ecosse.

Le nez est très prometteur, avec ces notes de poires, de vanilles, de fruits du verger.

Et puis, patatra… Le néant total, un whisky quasi insipide, où de vagues effluves vanillées apparaissent de ci, de là, sans s’attarder au palais. Grosse déception pour cet embouteillage.

Il est évident que ce (trop) jeune whisky à été prématurément extrait de son fût. Ce qui le prive de puissance aromatique. Peut-être aurait-il prolongé son séjour que la note en serait meilleure.

Dommage, peu convaincant.

TOO YOUNG, TOO EARLY, TOO TRANSPARENT – Score: 3.5 / 10

After the blend series, here’s a detour to a non-Scottish distillery. I have had the opportunity to taste non-Scotch whiskys before, especially an Amrut. This time, we will go to France, to Brittany more precisely where the Warenghem distillery has concocted this bottle of Armorik 2013 Single Cask #2505.

First Armorik that I taste, being a French citizen, I have my patriotic heart that beats a little harder, hoping that my fellow citizens have succeeded in creating a whisky as good as in Scotland.

The nose is very promising, with notes of pears, vanilla, orchard fruits.

All of a sudden, boom … Total nothingness, an almost tasteless whisky, where vague vanilla scents appear here and there, without lingering on the palate. Big disappointment for this bottling.

It is obvious that this (too) young whisky was prematurely extracted from its cask. Which deprives it of aromatic power. Perhaps would he have extended its stay that the score would be better.

Too bad, unconvincing.
