CARAMEL AU MASSEPAIN – Score: 7,5/10
Arran, petite distillerie sur l’île du même nom. Une distillerie fort peu connue ou populaire comparée à ses grandes sœurs Macallan ou Ardbeg mais qui gagne à être connue.
J’ai dégusté ce Arran au bar du Peninsula à Paris. Journée tranquille, ensoleillée, loin de tout tumulte de la ville, relax dans un salon privé, le tout en bonne compagnie.
J’ai donc pu me concentrer sur ce nectar en y décelant les arômes de caramel et de massepain qui vous sautent au palais comme des caniches devant la porte d’entrée.
Viennent ensuite les note de fruits rouges plus discrète, un peu de chêne mais pas trop et une finale douce-amer agréable. La balance n’est pas des plus parfaite mais cela reste un whisky acceptable même si je ne le boirai pas tous les jours.
Le prix reste, quant à lui, intéressant pour un 18 ans d’âge et c’est ce qui est appréciable chez Arran.
MARZIPAN WITH CARAMEL – Score: 7.5 / 10
Arran, a small distillery on the island of the same name. A very little known or popular distillery compared to its big sisters Macallan or Ardbeg but which deserves to be reknown.
I tasted this Arran at the Peninsula bar in Paris. Quiet, sunny day, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, relax in a private lounge, all in good company.
So I was able to concentrate on this nectar by detecting the aromas of caramel and marzipan that jump on your palate like poodles at the front door.
Then come the more discreet notes of red fruits, a little oak but not too much and a pleasant bittersweet finish. The scale is not the most perfect but it is still an acceptable whisky even if I will not drink it every day.
The price remains interesting for an 18 year old and that is what is appreciable with Arran.
