UNE SOUPE DE CERFEUIL – Score: 2/10

Après un petit tour par la Finlande, direction l’Islande et la distillerie Floki. Ce nom est plutôt populaire dans la culture scandinave, on le retrouve notamment dans des séries télévisés retraçant l’épopée viking ou encore dans le monde de la cryptomonnaie.

En effet, ce nom est à l’origine celui du mythique explorateur viking Floki Vilgeroarson ayant colonisé l’Islande.

Ce n’est donc pas un hasard si les créateurs de cette distillerie ont choisi ce nom évocateur de découverte vu que c’est la première distillerie de whisky en Islande.

Cette distillerie a décidé de produire sur base d’ingrédients locaux uniquement, de l’eau à l’orge jusqu’au type de fût.

Le whisky en question est vieilli dans un fût de bouleau ce qui est, pour le moins, original et intriguant. A ma connaissance, je n’ai pas en mémoire d’autres distilleries l’utilisant.

Le résultat est plutôt décevant, les notes sont mielleuses, très herbacées, proche du cerfeuil et le bois est fort prononcé.

La finale est très courte, heureusement pour moi.

La note est sévère mais je salue l’expérience tentée par le maître distillateur qui, comme Floki, a tenté d’explorer.

CHERVIL SOUP – Score: 2/10

After a short tour through Finland, head for Iceland and the Floki distillery. This name is rather popular in Scandinavian culture, it is found in particular in television series retracing the Viking epic or in the world of cryptocurrency.

Indeed, this name is originally that of the mythical Viking explorer Floki Vilgeroarson who colonized Iceland.

It is therefore no coincidence that the creators of this distillery chose this evocative name of discovery since it is the first whisky distillery in Iceland.

This distillery has decided to produce using only local ingredients, from barley water to the type of cask.

The given whisky is aged in a birchwood barrel which is, to say the least, original and intriguing. To my knowledge, I don’t remember any other distilleries using this type of wood.

The result is rather disappointing, the notes are honeyed, very herbaceous, close to chervil and the wood is very pronounced.

The finish is very short, luckily for me.

The score is severe but I salute the experiment attempted by the master distiller who, as Floki did, tried to explore.
