UNE TOURBE BIEN CONNUE – Score: 7,5/10

Troisième dégustation de blend de rang cette semaine, on se dirige cette fois vers la série de Elements of Islay et cette édition belge du “Peat & Sherry” du célèbre embouteilleur chimique.

Au nez, il est très agressif, l’alcool attaque sévèrement les narines (on est tout de même à 59,2%) mais derrière, une odeur familière se dégage, un peu de banane, de menthe poivrée, d’herbes fraîches.

Au palais, une présence étonnamment douce contrairement à ce que le nez laissait penser. Puis une saveur tourbée bien connue : je veux bien parier un séjour en Italie qu’il y a du Ardbeg dans cette affaire. J’ai même l’impression que c’est un Ardbeg Ten. En tout cas, si ça ne l’est pas, cela y ressemble fortement, juste une pointe de douceur fruitée et légèrement boisée en finale (l’adjonction de sherry).

Un blend intéressant à un prix tout aussi correct (de l’ordre d’une cinquantaine d’euros).

A goûter si l’on est fan de Ardbeg

Third blend tasting in a row this week, we are heading this time to the Elements of Islay series and this Belgian edition of “Peat & Sherry” from the famous chemical bottler.

On the nose, it is very aggressive, the alcohol severely attacks the nostrils (we are still at 59.2%) but behind, a familiar scent emerges, a little banana, peppermint, fresh herbs.

On the palate, a surprisingly soft presence, contrary to what the nose suggested. Then a well-known peaty flavor: I bet there is Ardbeg in this business. I even feel like it’s an Ardbeg Ten. In any case, if it isn’t, it tastes a lot like it, just a hint of fruity and slightly oaky sweetness on the finish (the addition of sherry).

An interesting blend at an equally decent price (around fifty euros).
