Sortons des sentiers battus et allons plus au sud, dans le pays du thé et du gin, le voisin anglais où des fous ont décidés de créer une distillerie sur une terre moins habituée au whisky.
The Lakes s’est fait une petite réputation chez les collectionneurs notamment anglais qui la considèrent comme LA meilleure distillerie anglaise (en même temps, il n’y en a pas des masses).
Une distillerie qui ne fournit jusqu’à présent aucun compte d’âge et se limite à des NAS aux noms chatoyants tels que ce Sequoia.
Peu d’information également sur ce whisky donc si ce n’est qu’il est vielli en fût de vin (mais lequel ?) et qu’il titre à 53%
Cela n’empêche que ce whisky soit riche en saveur. Il se trouve des notes de cerises griottes, de chocolat au lait mêlées à la vanille et un côté poudreux assez particulier.
La finale est plus herbeuse tournant sur la vervaine puis la menthe marocaine démontrant un peu de déséquilibre éthylique.
C’est bon, sympathique mais pas extraordinaire. Néanmoins laisse imaginer des lendemains qui chantent pour cette distillerie prometteuse

Let’s get off the beaten track and go further south, into the land of tea and gin, the English neighbour where crazy people have decided to create a distillery in a land less used to whisky.
The Lakes has made a small reputation among collectors, especially English, who consider it THE best English distillery (at the same time, there are not many of them).
A distillery that so far does not provide any age statement and is limited to NAS with shimmering names such as this Sequoia.
There is also little information on this whisky, except that it is aged in wine casks (but which one?) and that its strength at 53%
This does not prevent this whisky from being rich in flavor. There are notes of morello cherries, milk chocolate mixed with vanilla and a rather particular powdery side.
The finish is more grassy turning on vervain then Moroccan mint showing a little alcoholic imbalance.
It’s good, friendly but not extraordinary. Nevertheless lets imagine bright tomorrows for this promising distillery
