Voilà l’exemple type d’une bouteille dont la cote reflète plus la réputation à la fois de la distillerie et de l’embouteilleur que sa qualité intrinsèque.Est-ce son nom à coucher dehors qui lui vaut autant d’inimitié ?
En tout cas, cet embouteillage précis même s’il n’est pas “sexy” marketingement parlant, est un breuvage ma foi fort sympathique et je suis certain que servi à l’aveugle, beaucoup seront de mon avis.
J’ai goûté ce whisky dans un petit bar non loin de la Zytglogge de Bern où j’étais seul, avec le barman, à disserter sur les malts et les prix affolants de la Suisse.
Un whisky somme toute très classique, vieilli en fût de chêne, présence de malt, de fruits secs (noix, pécan, noisettes, ….) ayant une longueur surprenante et une belle texture (pile entre l’aqueux et le huileux).
Pas de quoi sauter en l’air mais nettement meilleur que des bouteilles hors de prix que j’ai pu boire par la suite.
Ne vous précipitez pas dessus pour l’acheter mais ne le fuyez pas non plus si l’on vous propose un verre, il fait le job.

This is a typical example of a bottle whose rating reflects more the reputation of both the distillery and the bottler than its intrinsic quality. Is it his awful name that has earned him so much enmity?
In any case, this precise bottling, even if it is not “sexy” in marketing terms, is a very nice drink, and I am sure that on a blind tasting, many will agree with me.
I tasted this whisky in a small bar not far from the Zytglogge in Bern where I was on my own, with the barman, talking about malts and the maddening prices of Switzerland.
All in all, a very classic whisky, aged in oak barrels, some presence of malt, dried fruits (walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts, etc.) with a surprising length and a beautiful texture (right between the aqueous and the oily) .
Not enough to jump in the air but much better than any expensive bottles that I could drink afterwards.
Don’t rush over to buy it, but don’t run away from it if you are offered a drink. It does the job.
