BenRiach 17 years – Septendecim

english version below

THE WHISKY OF THE WOODS – Score: 6/10

Our BenRiach tasting is coming to an end (for now) with this BenRiach Septendecim.

A peaty version, aged in bourbon barrels is offered to us by BenRiach, roughly speaking, a Solstice without the port finish and reduced to 46% instead of 50%

The little story of this tasting is again curious. I had not planned to open this bottle, it was one of my clients who, having seen the cork breaking, preferred to return the bottle to me.

So I got this bottle back and decided to taste it.

I was therefore able to discover an earthy whisky, earthy full of humus, slightly sweet but above all very woody, with a bitter finish. Smoke is present as well, similar to a Talisker. The general mood is rather mixed. A correct ethylic balance but this earth / vanilla combination is not very suitable.

I will not buy it again.
