BELLE SURPRISE DE PRINTEMPS – Score 9/10
La cote Whiskybase est largement sous-estimée pour cet excellent Bowmore 2000 de 8 ans d’âge.
C’est une bouteille que j’ai acquis sur ebay il y a de cela près de 8 ans et que j’ai vainement tenté de vendre depuis. Elle ne trouva grâce aux yeux d’aucun acheteur et je me résolu de l’ouvrir, un soir de pluie.
A l’ouverture, le bouchon se cassa, ce qui me força à une filtration de sauvetage. L’odeur s’exhalait lentement et puissamment laissant présager une belle saveur tourbée.
Puis vint le moment tant attendu : la dégustation !
On démarra sur une belle présence onctueuse en bouche dévoilant des saveurs de miel, de paille et de céréales, puis vint le deuxième effet kiss kool où, subitement, on tourna sur la vanille, le citrique, les fruits frais (granny smith ?) le tout, bien entendu, enrobé d’une belle tourbe (sans être un octomore) qui me laissa une belle et longue finale.
Un joli coup de cœur en cette fin d’année. Je recommande vivement si vous la trouver sur quelques sites d’enchères ou chez un caviste (on ne sait jamais).

The Whiskybase rating is vastly underestimated for this excellent 8 year old Bowmore 2000.
It is a bottle that I acquired on ebay almost 8 years ago and that I have tried in vain to sell since then. It found no favor in the eyes of any buyer and I resolved to open it on a rainy evening.
On opening, the cork broke, which forced me to a rescue filtration. The smell exhaled slowly and powerfully suggesting a beautiful peaty flavor.
Then came the long-awaited moment: the tasting!
It started with a nice creamy presence in the mouth revealing flavors of honey, straw and cereals, then came the second kiss kool effect where, suddenly, we turned to vanilla, citric, fresh fruit (granny smith?) All, of course, coated with a beautiful peat (without being an octomore) which left me a nice and long finish.
A nice crush at the end of the year. I highly recommend if you find it on a few auction sites or at a wine merchant (you never know).
