Toujours sur la lancée de la dégustation Compass Box, je passe à ce “Story of the Spaniard” assemblé avec pas moins de six single malts différents.
En effet, pour cet opus, ont été convié Dailuaine, Glendullan, Clynelish, Deanston, Glen Elgin et Teaninich. Aucune de ces distilleries n’est d’une grande notoriété (non, les Clynelish actuels n’ont pas une grande notoriété).
Mais bon, on peut parfois avoir de bonnes surprises en mélangeant des whiskies moyens.
Ce ne sera pas le cas, néanmoins. Ce blend est maussade comme un café de supermarché. On y décèle bien quelques notes épicées, un soupçon de bois vert, un chocolat industriel et une finale rappelant la Marmite (pour ceux ayant eu l’occasion d’y goûter).
Bref, pas de quoi fouetter un chat.

But hey, sometimes you can have good surprises by mixing medium whiskies.
It won’t, however. This blend is sullen like a supermarket coffee. There are some spicy notes, a hint of green wood, industrial chocolate and a finish reminiscent of Marmite (for those who have had the opportunity to taste it).
In short, nothing to make a fuss about.
