Dalmore 12 years – Old Grey Bottling

english version below

CALICE D’AMERTUME – Score: 5/10

CHALICE OF BITTERNESS – Score: 5/10

Tonight is club night with friends and on the list is this old 12-year-old Dalmore bottled within the late 1980s. In other words, it will be a trip back in time for the guests and myself.

Dalmore is this distillery famous for its master blender – Richard “The Nose” Patterson – a whimsical character in charge of the selection of casks for both Dalmore and the Whyte & MacKay blend.

On the palate, the whisky is shy, very watery, much too reduced (yet at 43%), releasing some brief notes of banana, before quickly turning into woody, liquorice prevailing in the finish keeping us a note of bitterness too involved.

Luck for me, it won’t be too long.
