Glasgow “1770” – Virgin Oak

AMANDES AMERES – Score: 7,5/10

english version below

A suivre donc

BITTER ALMONDS – Score: 7.5 / 10

New tasting theme with a series of Lowlands distilleries starting with this new distillery located in the heart of Glasgow and aptly named by the same name.

Although initially intended for the production of malt, the distillery first produced Gin, in order to make profitable its first years of aging of its malt (3 years minimum in order to be named “whisky”)

It was in 2018 (4 years after the opening) that the first release was delivered in limited version, aged 3 years.

Mass production is launching with the “1770” series, the first version of which will be the subject of my tasting.

This first version bottled in an American virgin oak barrel is very promising: notes of vanilla, bitter fines, sweet wood, tagada strawberry all in a classy color.

We find the traditional approach of the Lowlands (Triple distilled) while providing a slightly smoother texture.

To be followed
