Il n’y avait sur l’île d’Arran qu’une seule distillerie jusqu’à présent. Mais à l’instar de Tobermory, de Bruichladdich ou encore de Springbank, Arran souhaite diversifier son offre et a donc lancer la construction d’une deuxième distillerie dans le sud de l’île nommée Lagg

Lagg produit essentiellement du whisky tourbé dont la version présente est le deuxième batch de la série inaugurale.

Un whisky très jeune, il n’a que trois ans, vieilli en fût de sherry et titrant à un respectable 50% (suite à une dilution contrôlée).

Ce batch est plutôt bien équilibré entre la puissance de la tourbe terreuse et les compositions fruitières et épicées de ses saveurs comprenant les cerises griottes et un brin de chocolat.

La finale s’emballe un peu sur une pointe de poivre blanc légèrement surchargée.

Un whisky ressemblant étrangement à quelques biscuits helvètes à la fois épicés et sucrés.

Nous resterons donc indulgent vu la relative jeunesse du produit et de la distillerie.

SWISS BISCUIT – 7/10

Until now, there was only one distillery on the Isle of Arran. But following in the footsteps of Tobermory, Bruichladdich, and Springbank, Arran wishes to diversify its offerings and has therefore launched the construction of a second distillery on the southern end of the island called Lagg.

Lagg primarily produces peated whisky, of which this version is the second batch of the inaugural series.

A very young whisky, aged for only three years in sherry casks and bottled at a respectable 50% ABV (following controlled dilution).

This batch is quite well-balanced between the power of earthy peat and the fruity and spicy notes in its flavors, including Morello cherries and a hint of chocolate.

The finish gets a bit carried away with a slightly overpowering hint of white pepper.

A whisky that strangely resembles some spiced and sweet Swiss biscuits.

Given the relative youth of the product and distillery, we will remain indulgent.
