UN VAGUE CLONE DE J&B – Score: 1,5/10

Petite pause dans la dégustation de Glendronach en passant à un vieux blend des années 2000, le Loch Castle.

Satisfait de mes précédentes expériences avec les vieux blends, je me suis laissé tenté par ce Loch Castle découvert dans une petite taverne du nord de la France (à Dunkerke).

La bouteille n’avait en plus jamais été ouverte, donc rassurer de me dire que je serai le premier à le goûter.

Allez hop, c’est parti, le verre est servi et la couleur m’inquiète déjà… un jaune proche du fluorescent. Ca me rappelle un whisky de grain irlandais que j’avais goûté au Bénin. Mais bon, SOS Racisme m’a appris à ne pas me fier à la couleur donc j’attaque ce breuvage.

La couleur ne m’a pas trahi : un whisky sans doute beaucoup plus chargé en grain que de malt et sans doute d’autres adjuvants chimiques styles colorant et autres joyeusetés. Je me retrouve avec un whisky quasi imbuvable (que je laisserai d’ailleurs à un ivrogne sur le comptoir).

A short break in tasting Glendronach by switching to an old blend from the 2000s, Loch Castle.

Satisfied with my previous experiences with old blends, I let myself be tempted by this Loch Castle discovered in a small tavern in the north of France (in Dunkerke).

The bottle had never been opened yet, so was I assured that I would be the first to taste it.

Come on, let’s go, the whisky is poured and the color already worries me … a fluorescent yellowish reminding me of an Irish grain whiskey that I tasted in Benin. But hey, I will not discriminate based on the color so let’s start.

The color has not betrayed me: a whisky arguably much more loaded with grain than malt and arguably other chemical additives such as coloring and whatnot. I end up with an almost undrinkable whisky (which I’ll leave for a drunkard on the counter by the way).
