TARTE AU CHOCOLAT – Score: 7/10
Premier Tamdhu de ma vie et ce, grâce à mon petit cercle d’amis amateurs de whisky me permettant de goûter des malts que je n’achèterais pas forcément.
Celui-ci est embouteillé par la maison Douglas Laing bien connue pour ses blends à la mode tels Big Peat, Timorous Beastie ou encore Scallywag.
Ici c’est leur série “Old Particular” qui est à l’honneur avec ce fût de sherry #13383
L’attaque est douce, caressante même, les notes de fruits rouges sautillant sur la langue.
Puis, soudain, se déchaîne les épices et toute la puissance éthylique de ses … 48,4% ?
Etrange pour un whisky si faible en alcool pour seulement 12 ans d’être aussi agressif en seconde partie de bouche. Quelques gouttes d’eau rétabliront l’équilibre (je pense qu’autour de 43-46%, le taux est optimal pour cet opus).
La finale démarre sur le chocolat puis tourne lentement vers une belle amertume cacao persistante.
Agréable sans être exceptionnel

This one is bottled by the well-known house Douglas Laing and its fashionable blends such as Big Peat, Timorous Beastie or Scallywag.
Here it is their “Old Particular” series that is in the spotlight with this sherry cask #13383
The start is soft, even caressing, with notes of red fruits hopping on the tongue.
Then, suddenly, the spices are unleashed and all the ethyl power of its… 48.4%?
Strange for a whisky so low in alcohol for only 12 years to be so harsh in the second half of the tasting. A few drops of water will restore the balance (I think around 43-46%, the balance is optimal for this opus).
The finish starts off on chocolate then slowly turns to a nice persistent cocoa bitterness.
Pleasant without being exceptional
