Ardbeg Blaaack

UNDERWATER EXPLORATION – Rating: 7.5/10

Many of us eagerly await Ardbeg’s annual new release, and Blaaack emerges as a manifestation of 2020.

This version introduces innovation with aging in New Zealand Pinot Noir, which, to my knowledge, had not yet been utilized in the industry.

Hence the name and its spelling (Blaaack), mimicking the bleating of a sheep and evoking the color of Pinot.

On the palate, we encounter Ardbeg’s traditional maritime notes of seaweed and earth. The Pinot Noir contributes sweeter notes of syrup and licorice.

A pleasing whisky that blends sweetness with maritime characteristics.
