Il est toujours empli de joie de pouvoir déguster un BenRiach millésimé. Le savoir-faire de Billy Walker est inégalable et le hisse au rang des légendes des maîtres de chai de notre siècle.
La couleur de ce BenRiach titille déjà nos papilles, nous poussant à ouvrir au plus vite cette bouteille dont l’élixir a reposé pendant 18 ans dans un excellent fût de Pedro Ximenez.
Cerise sur le gâteau, cette version est tourbée, ce qui confère une certaine singularité à ce BenRiach.
L’alliance entre l’explosion de sherry et la tourbe est souvent une grande réussite, et cette édition de 1994 ne déroge pas à la règle.
Ce whisky est admirablement complexe, mêlant tout ce que nous aimons dans un sherry. Il débute par une bouche épicée et sirupeuse, puis se développe avec une tourbe teintée de cuir et de tabac. Les notes de pain d’épices s’invitent, saupoudrées de cannelle, pour finir sur une finale d’un élégant café robusta.
BenRiach nous offre un véritable joyau pour les amoureux des deux univers et c’est projeté dans une vieille bibliothèque d’un vieux manoir anglais que nous savourerons ce nectar.

The hue of this BenRiach already tantalizes the palate, impelling us to hastily uncork this vessel wherein the elixir hath slumbered for a span of 18 years, nestled within an exceptional Pedro Ximenez cask.
An exquisite touch, this expression doth bear a peaty essence, an atypical attribute for a BenRiach libation.
The marriage betwixt the sherry’s explosive character and the peat oft yields resplendent results, and this 1994 rendition doth naught deviate from this lofty standard.
This whisky, verily, is a paragon of complexity, weaving together all the elements we hold dear in a sherry. It commences with a spice-laden and treacle-infused palate, then unfurls a tapestry of peat, redolent of leather and tobacco. The gingerbread joins the affair, gently sprinkled with cinnamon, culminating in a finale of the most elegant robusta coffee.
BenRiach hath bestowed upon us a true gem, for those enamoured with the confluence of these two realms.
