Cette deuxième dégustation de Benrinnes est plutôt décevante. Autant la première avait révélé un whisky doux et onctueux avec une certaine complexité, autant cette version de Signatory Vintage mixant deux fûts Hogshead relève de la monotonie.
C’est sans doute le genre de fût destiné à la production de blend car le malt est ommniprésent sans aucune autre forme de relief. Attention, c’est pas mauvais, c’est juste monotone. Un whisky brut, typique des fûts de chêne : boisé, céréales, sec.
Un whisky passe-partout. La triple distillation le rend doux en bouche ce qui évite l’astringence et l’amertume que l’on risquait d’avoir avec une distillation classique.
Mais certainement pas le whisky de l’année.

This second tasting of Benrinnes is rather disappointing. As much as the first revealed a smooth and unctuous whisky with a certain complexity, this version of Signatory Vintage mixing two Hogshead barrels is monotonous.
This is undoubtedly the kind of cask intended for the production of blends because the malt is omnipresent without any other form of relief. Be careful, it’s not bad, it’s just boring. A raw whisky, typical of oak barrels: woody, cereals, dry.
A whisky happening everywhere. The triple distillation makes it soft on the palate which avoids the astringency and bitterness that one might have with a classic distillation.
But certainly not the whisky of the year.
