Il y a plusieurs types de whisky : les whisky tranquille, qui vous apaisent la bouche, vous relaxent, vous détendent. Et il y a les whisky rock’n roll, ceux qui vous réveillent les papilles, qui vous bousculent, vous giflent les joues et la glotte.
Ce Caol Ila de l’embouteilleur allemand Whisky-Doris titrant à 52,2% est de cette deuxième catégorie.
Pris en bouche, ce dram va vous faire passer par tous les états. On démarre par quelques notes fruitées, rappelant très vaguement la pomme pour rapidement vous apporter des notes terreuses de tourbières puis l’alcool vous poivre le palais allègrement avant de s’estomper et laisser place à de nouvelles notes fruitières (pêches blanches, poire,…). Là vous vous dîtes que s’en est terminé mais la finale revient sur la cendre et s’éteint lentement comme un feu de camp.
Whisky intéressant mais trop vallonnés à mon goût.

This Caol Ila from the German bottler Whisky-Doris grading 52.2% is in this second category.
Taken in the mouth, this dram will make you go through all the states.
We start with a few fruity notes, very vaguely reminiscent of apple to quickly bring you earthy notes of peat bogs then the alcohol peppercorns your palate cheerfully before fading and giving way to new fruity notes (white peaches, pear, … ).
There you think it is over but the finish turns to ashes and slowly fades away like a campfire.
Interesting whisky but too hilly for my taste.
