UN FRISSON DESAGREABLE – Score: 1/10
Deanston, une autre distillerie dans l’ombre des grandes, ayant du mal à percer dans le marché concurrentiel
Cette dégustation sera offerte par l’un de mes amis suite à un échange de nos bouteilles respectives.
Parmi les 4 whiskies reçus, figure donc le Deanston 14 ans vieili en Spanish Oak (sans doute sherry).
Autant le dire tout de suite, c’est une véritable sensation de rejet que j’ai ressenti. Et le pire, c’est qu’il me semble bien fait. Un véritable paradoxe. Un whisky liquoreux, onctueux, une finale très longue.
Seulement, la bouche est bien trop mielleuse pour moi, et l’enchaînement sur le chêne qui se prolonge avec le poivre et les épices m’ont littéralement provoqué un frisson désagréable dans le dos.
J’ai été incapable de le finir.
La note ne représente que mon goût personnel car je suis persuadé que certains peuvent le trouver très bon.

Deanston, another distillery in the shadow of the big boys, struggling to break into the competitive market
This tasting will be offered by one of my friends following an exchange of our respective bottles.
Among the 4 whiskeys received, therefore appears the Deanston 14 years old in Spanish Oak (probably sherry).
As much to say it right away, it is a real feeling of rejection that I felt. And the worst part is that it seems to me well done. A real paradox. A syrupy, smooth whiskey with a very long finish.
Only, the mouth is way too honeyed for me, and the sequence on the oak which is prolonged with the pepper and the spices literally caused me an unpleasant shiver in the back.
I was unable to finish it.
The note only represents my personal taste as I am sure some may find it very good.
