Soirée dégustation suite au voyage en Ecosse effectué par le club “The Friends of Malt”. L’un de nos membres nous a ramené cette bouteille de Deanston finie en fût de calvados.
Alors goûtons ensemble cette version en finition plutôt exotique et voyons si cela offre un bénéfice au whisky.
L’approche est poivrée, signe d’une intégration bancale de l’alcool et donne un début de dégustation moyennement agréable. L’ajout d’eau n’aidera pas au risque de diluer trop l’alcool et de perdre sa saveur.
La pomme est bien présente, on s’en doutait, accompagnée d’épices (cardamone, clou de girofle,…) mais dans un ordre dispersé et peu harmonieux.
Un whisky décevant, bien trop cher (150€) pour la qualité reçue.

Tasting evening following the trip to Scotland made by the club “The Friends of Malt”. One of our members brought us this bottle of Deanston finished in a Calvados cask.
So let’s taste this version together with a rather exotic finish and see if this offers any benefit to the whisky.
The approach is peppery, a sign of a wobbly integration of alcohol and gives a moderately pleasant start to the tasting. Adding water will not help as it will dilute the alcohol too much and lose its flavor.
The apple is present, as we suspected, accompanied by spices (cardamom, cloves, etc.) but in a dispersed and not harmonious order.
A disappointing whisky, far too expensive (150 €) for the quality received.
