SHERRY VIEILLI DANS UN FÛT DE WHISKY – Score: 7,5/10
Troisième dégustation de Glenfarclas cette semaine avec ce jeune whisky de 9 ans toujours vieilli en fût de sherry. Attention, ce n’est pas pour les enfants, cela titre à 60,9% d’alcool.
Difficile de percevoir le nez tellement l’alcool vous pique en plongeant votre appendice nasal dans le verre. Après la troisième tentative, on distingue vaguement les notes de fruits rouges typiques d’un fût de sherry et du vin rouge de Cahors.
Au palais, par contre, l’alcool, bien que présent, n’agresse pas la langue. Une texture onctueuse, on démarre sur du chocolat (d’habitude c’est plutôt en finale) puis vient la présence de caramel chaud, de bois sec mais l’astringence du fût est présente. On dirait que l’on lèche le bois du tonneau tellement c’est présent. Une note désagréable également en finale est un goût de bouchon de Liège comme si votre sherry était bouchonné.
Cette finale gâche tout le prometteur début de ce whisky qui, au final, s’en sort avec un 7,5 sur 10
Intéressant mais sans plus.
SHERRY AGED IN A WHISKY BARREL – Score: 7.5 / 10
Third Glenfarclas tasting this week with this young 9-year-old whisky aged in sherry casks. Be careful, this is not for children, it contains 60.9% alcohol.
It’s hard to perceive the nose because the alcohol stings you when you dip your nasal appendage into the glass. After the third attempt, we can vaguely distinguish the notes of red fruits typical of a sherry cask and Cahors red wine.
On the palate, alcohol, although present, does not agress the tongue. A smooth texture, we start with chocolate (usually it’s more on the finish) then comes the presence of hot caramel, dry wood but the astringency of the barrel is present. It looks like we are licking the wood from the barrel, it is so present. An unpleasant note also on the finish is a cork stopper taste as if your sherry were corked.
This finish ruins all the promising start of this whisky which ends up with a 7.5 out of 10
Interesting but nothing more.
