Glenrothes 1997 24 years

NOSTALGIA IN VALLETTA – Rating: 8/10

The esteemed Thompson Brothers, renowned for their resounding debut in the realm of independent whisky, require no introduction. Their selections have consistently left us in awe.

Tonight, we delve into a 24-year-old Glenrothes, aged in second-fill casks and boasting a modest 48.9% ABV, a perfectly judicious choice for the discerning palate.

The bottler’s reputation remains unblemished with this opus, presenting us with a delightful gustatory complexity. The texture, oily and almost waxy, unveils patiently tinted notes of figs, almonds, and honey, transporting us to a Mediterranean shore. The marzipan gracefully indulges our senses in the finale, accompanied by a subtle, nostalgic hint of the whiskies of yesteryear.

Yet another triumph, some may assert, for the Thompson Brothers.
