Des sélections aux petits oignons pour ce fils de maître de chais à la réputation légendaire. Walker junior nous offre cette fois un Glenrothes de dix ans d’âge vieilli en fût de sherry titrant, tenez-vous bien, à près de 63% (62,8% pour être prècis). Incroyable pour un whisky de cet âge.
Et croyez-moi, vous allez les sentir ces pourcentages d’alcool. Ca chauffe dur dans la bouche du début à la fin.
L’eau est nécessaire pour pouvoir apprécier ce breuvage dont la complexité est intéressante.
D’abord mielleux et sucré (canne à sucre), il tourne lentement vers les fruits des bois (framboises) puis les épices. La finale sera chocolatée mais toujours aussi pimentée.
Sans doute aurait-il mérité une petite réduction à 50%. La note aurait ête meilleure. Mais le piquant de l’alcool gâche toute la beauté de ce whisky.

Descendance is assured for Billy Walker with his son, Alastair, who has launched an independent bottler that is gradually making its way in the small world of whisky enthusiasts.
Carefully selected by the son of a legendary master blender, Walker Jr. now offers us a ten-year-old Glenrothes aged in a sherry cask, with an astonishing ABV of nearly 63% (62.8% to be precise). Incredible for a whisky of this age.
And believe me, you’ll feel that alcohol percentage. It heats up from start to finish.
Water is necessary to fully appreciate this beverage, as its complexity is quite intriguing.
Initially honeyed and sweet (sugarcane), it slowly turns towards wild berries (raspberries), and then the spices emerge. The finish is chocolaty but still fiery.
Perhaps it would have deserved a slight reduction to 50%. The score would have been higher. But the burning sensation of the alcohol spoils the beauty of this whisky.
