WHISKY, SWEETS, AND CHOCOLATE – Score: 8/10

Signatory Vintage has introduced a new series of bottlings titled “Small Batch,” consistently bottled at 48.2% ABV. This twelve-year-old Glenrothes 2011 is part of this lineup.

Glenrothes is already renowned for its maturation in sherry casks, so I have high hopes that the quality will shine through in this version bottled by Signatory Vintage, which is a blend of first-fill bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks.

The whisky is pleasantly well-balanced. Slightly syrupy, it offers sweet flavors of black grapes and sugarcane. The finish is on lightly minted milk chocolate.

For the asking price (typically around €65 on average), it’s an excellent tasting experience.
