Isle of Jura est une distillerie fondée en 1810 et qui, originellement, produisait des whiskies aussi tourbés que ceux de Islay.
Certains diront qu’elle a perdue son âme, vu la disparition progressive dans la gamme, de la tourbe caractéristique de l’île.
Aujourd’hui, nous nous intéresserons à une version d’entrée de gamme finie en fût de vin rouge (sans précision duquel).
Le produit semble artificiel, avec une texture plutôt aqueuse, la tourbe étant très fugace et le caramel très présent. La finale boisée est piquante relevant une mauvaise intégration éthylique.
Le résultat d’ensemble est pauvre, ne laissant pas une impression phénoménal de ce que la distillerie a sans doute comme potentiel.

Today, we will focus on an entry-level expression finished in red wine casks (without specifying which).
The product appears artificial, with a rather watery texture, as the peat is very fleeting and caramel is very dominant. The woody finish is sharp, indicating poor ethyl integration.
The overall result is lacking, not leaving a phenomenal impression of what the distillery likely has in terms of potential.
