Glen Moray est une distillerie bon marché, ayant toujours eu à coeur de garder un produit abordable pour la bourse du quidam.
Il faut dire également que les productions de Glen Moray n’incite pas à l’enthousiasme, ayant souvent des whiskies légers, à la finale inexistante et aux saveurs vaporeuses. En tout cas pour leur entrée de gamme.
D’où ma curiosité de goûter une production embouteillée directement à la distillerie, brut de fût et, pour courronner le tout, vieillie en fût de Chardonnay.
Le désenchantement est immédiat à peine mis en bouche la première goutte. Le whisky est extrêmement agressif avec un total déséquilibre éthylique chariant des torrents de piments au palais qui s’en trouve quasi anéthésié.
S’y ajoute des notes de raisins (très) mûrs et de marmite rendant ce whisky fort peu agréable.
Cruelle déception pour cette version mise en bouteille à la main.

Glen Moray is a budget distillery, always committed to keeping a product affordable for the average person’s pocket.
It must also be said that Glen Moray’s productions do not inspire enthusiasm, often featuring light whiskies, a non-existent finish, and elusive flavors. At least for their entry-level offerings.
Hence my curiosity to taste a production bottled directly at the distillery, cask strength, and, to top it all off, aged in Chardonnay casks.
The disappointment is immediate as soon as the first drop hits the palate. The whisky is extremely aggressive, with a complete ethyl imbalance, delivering torrents of chili heat that nearly anesthetize the palate.
Add to that notes of (very) ripe grapes and a pot-like quality, making this whisky far from enjoyable.
A cruel letdown for this hand-bottled version.
