Ce soir, c’est un Glen Moray que nous allons déguster. Un Glen Moray fini en fût de sherry et titrant au minimum requis de 40%
Glen Moray est une de ces distilleries ayant choisi, (enfin, surtout ses propriétaires) dans les années ’70 de viser le segment bas du marché en positionnant ses tarifs aux standards des blends tels que Johnnie Walker ou Chivas Regal.
Cette stratégie qui, dans ces années de crises, permettait à la distillerie de sortir la tête de l’eau, est préjudiciable aujourd’hui donnant à cette distillerie une réputation de whisky bas de gamme.
Or, même si nous n’atteignons pas des sommets dans l’art malté, force est d’admettre que Glen Moray a un niveau acceptable par rapport au prix pratiqué.
Notamment, sur ce Sherry Cask Finish, nous sommes dans le plus pur style des blends (dont il entre d’ailleurs dans la composition des fameux Glen Turner et autres Label 5).
La texture est très aqueuse, une saveur de mélasse et de caramel se distingue puis laissant la place à de légères saveurs épicées.
La finale est minimaliste.
Ca se laisse boire mais rien d’extraordinaire. Pour le prix, nous ne sommes néanmoins pas volé.

Glen Moray is one of those distilleries that chose, (well, especially its owners) in the 1970s to target the lower end of the market by positioning its prices to the standards of blends such as Johnnie Walker or Chivas Regal.
This strategy which, in those years of crisis, allowed the distillery to get its head out of the water, is detrimental today, giving this distillery a reputation as a low-end whisky.
However, even if we do not reach new heights in malted art, we have to admit that Glen Moray is at an acceptable level for the price charged.
In particular, with this Sherry Cask Finish, we are in the purest style of blends (which it is also part of the composition of the famous Glen Turner and other Label 5).
The texture is very watery, a flavor of molasses and toffee stands out, then giving way to light spicy flavors.
The finish is minimalist.
It is drinkable, but nothing spectacular. Nevertheless, for this price, we are not ripped off.
