Nouvelle tentative de dégustation sur la distillerie Glen Moray avec une bouteille dont l’embouteillage a été effectué à la main dans la distillerie en provenance d’un fût de bourbon.
Un whisky de dix ans d’âge titrant à un respectable 58,6% et, croyez-moi, on les sent bien passé.
Brut de fût, ce whisky est très (trop) puissant dénotant d’un déséquilibre éthylique flagrant. Alors, oui, il est complexe, apportant des notes de céréales et de miel enrobées de caramel mou et de sirop de Liège.
Mais la finale est fortement boisée bien trop marquée par le piment antillais pour apporter un quelconque plaisir sur le long terme.
Sans doute que l’eau devrait atténué le piquant de l’alcool mais je n’ai pas eu l’envie de prolonger plus loin l’expérience.

A new attempt at tasting from the Glen Moray distillery with a bottle that has been hand-bottled at the distillery from a bourbon cask.
A ten-year-old whisky, clocking in at a respectable 58.6%, and believe me, you can definitely feel it.
As cask strength, this whisky is very (perhaps too) potent, showing a clear ethyl imbalance. Yes, it’s complex, offering notes of cereals and honey wrapped in soft caramel and syrup.
However, the finish is heavily woody, with the unmistakable heat of Caribbean pepper that fails to deliver any long-term enjoyment.
Adding water might indeed soften the alcohol’s bite, but I had no desire to extend the experience any further.
