La deuxième vague de Kilchoman se termine ce soir avec un finish encore exotique dans le petit monde du whisky.
En effet, ce Kilchoman 2013 vieilli en fût de bourbon est fini dans un fût de Tequila. Plutôt original comme expérience et cela aiguise ma curiosité.
De plus, ce Kilchoman a tout de même 7 ans d’âge, ce qui est encore rare dans cette série de brut de fût qui, bien souvent, ont en moyenne 5 ans.
C’est donc avec une curiosité croissante que je déguste ce nouveau Kilchoman et le moins que je puisse dire c’est que l’expérience est loin d’être concluante.
La tequila se ressent vraiment et si vous n’êtes pas amateur de cet alcool sud-américain, il vous faudra faire l’impasse sur ce whisky. Des notes de cigares froid et de réglisse vont ensuite se propager dans votre palais accompagnés d’une forte dose de poivre. La finale, tourbée comme d’habitude, sera également fort amère.
Une fois n’est pas coutume, une belle grosse déception chez Kilchoman mais bon, il fallait bien tenter ce finish et la tentative est à saluer.

The second wave of Kilchoman ends tonight with a still exotic finish in the small world of whisky.
Indeed, this Kilchoman 2013 aged in bourbon cask is finished in a Tequila cask. Rather original as an experience and it sharpens my curiosity.
In addition, this Kilchoman is 7 years old, which is still rare in this series of cask strength which, very often, are on average 5 years old.
It is therefore with growing curiosity that I taste this new Kilchoman and the least I can say is that the experience is far from conclusive.
You can really feel the tequila and if you are not a fan of this South American alcohol, you will have to skip this whisky. Notes of cold cigars and liquorice will then spread through your palate accompanied by a strong dose of pepper. The finish, peaty as usual, will also be very bitter.
Once is not custom, a nice big disappointment at Kilchoman but hey, we had to try this finish and the attempt is to be welcomed.
