Kilchoman – Quarter Cask

A SUNDAY AFTERNOON IN A TEA ROOM – Rating: 7.5/10

One never tires of exploring the Kilchoman range, which has been crafting whiskies with an unparalleled and perfectly identifiable taste for nearly 20 years.

Few distilleries have managed to secure such a distinguished place and assert a recognizable style among the hundreds worldwide.

Tonight, we subject the 6-year-old Kilchoman Quarter Cask, bottled at 56.9%, to our scrutiny.

The outcome is exceptionally gratifying and full of complexity. The nuances of dried fruits and fresh delights intertwine amidst the typical ashiness of this distillery. The barley syrup aids in the transition towards a bittersweet finale reminiscent of Darjeeling tea, culminating in lingering notes of licorice and coffee.

Once again, a delightful success that reaffirms my appreciation for aging in Quarter Casks, which often proves to be a splendid achievement.
