L’air de rien, Glengyle et son whisky Kilkerran sont occupés à se tailler une belle place dans la maltosphère mondiale avec leurs whiskies (tourbé ou non). Que cela soit leurs célébrissimes huit ans brut de fût ou leurs batchs super tourbés, la réussite est régulièrement au rendez-vous.
Ici, nous aurons le plaisir de goûter la version six du batch super tourbé de Kilkerran sorti en avril 2022 et titrant à 57,4%.
Le mélange est à 75% de fût de bourbon et 25% de fût de sherry, lui apportant des notes contrastées.
La bouche est toujours aussi onctueuse, porteuse de vanille et d’une tourbe terreuse prononcée. La réglisse s’impose ensuite dans l’amorce de finale puis le bois sec parachèvra une belle fiinale longue et harmonieuse.
Un joli malt pour les amoureux de la tourbe concentrée et le tout pour un prix tout à fait raisonnable (aux alentours de 70€)

Unbeknownst to many, Glengyle and their Kilkerran whisky are quietly and steadily making a remarkable mark in the global world of malt whisky, be it peated or unpeated. Their widely celebrated eight-year-old cask strength releases and heavily peated batches consistently meet with success.
In this instance, we have the pleasure of tasting the sixth release of Kilkerran’s heavily peated batch, introduced in April 2022, with an impressive ABV of 57.4%.
The blend consists of 75% bourbon casks and 25% sherry casks, resulting in a captivating interplay of contrasting notes.
The palate maintains its signature velvety character, carrying nuances of vanilla and a robust earthy peatiness. Subsequently, the flavor of licorice takes center stage at the onset of the finish, followed by the presence of dry wood, culminating in a splendid, lingering, and harmonious conclusion.
This is an enchanting malt for those who cherish the intensity of concentrated peat, all available at a remarkably reasonable price (approximately €70).
