Rien qu’en prononçant le nom “Macallan”, nombreux sont ceux qui salivent et perçoivent des étoiles dans les yeux. Cette distillerie a réussi à se donner une image légendaire de whisky ultime. A coup de placement de produit sur Netflix et d’investissement dans des bars luxueux en Asie, la marque Macallan est devenue aussi prestigieuse que Louis Vuitton ou Chanel.
Néanmoins, pour la petite poignée d’experts en whisky dont le savoir et l’expérience ne se laissent nullement influencés par les paillettes,
Car il est un constat, la qualité chez Macallan a fortement baissée et ce Macallan 12 ans sherry cask n’est plus l’ombre que ce qu’il était dans les années 1980 ou 1990.
Au palais, un whisky fort aqueux, laissant des notes de cacao dilué rappelant un cécémel. Le bois est légèrement présent avec quelques notes de miel industriel.
Pas grand chose de plus à dire sur ce whisky fort insipide loin de la grandeur d’antan.
