Difficile de donner son appréciation sur un Octomore tellement ce whisky est controversé et clivant. J’ai d’ailleurs déjà essuyé quelques insultes pour avoir côté un Octomore en-dessous de la moyenne. C’est dire si ce breuvage distillé et produit par Bruichladdich est devenu iconique, voire religieux, radicalisant certains consomateurs.
La cote de cette version 13.1 n’est pas une manière pour moi de me défausser devant les extrêmistes de la tourbe et reflète, en mon âme et conscience, l’expérience que j’ai vécue en buvant cet Octomore.
Je reste peu perméable au type de tourbe pétrolifère de Octomore mais force est de reconnaître que le distillat est bien fait. De la paille fraîche, des pommes vertes, du citron vert, du bois… vert, bref, un whisky très écolo.
La finale est légèrement saupoudrée de piment (vert) ce qui renforce son caractère.
Un whisky plein de passion, donc, qui ravira les amateurs du genre.

It is challenging to provide an assessment of an Octomore whisky as it is highly controversial and divisive. I have even faced some insults for rating an Octomore below average, highlighting how this distilled beverage produced by Bruichladdich has become iconic and even religious, radicalizing certain consumers.
The rating for this 13.1 version is not an attempt to appease the peat extremists but rather reflects my honest experience while tasting this Octomore.
I personally remain less receptive to the petrol-like peat profile of Octomore, but I must acknowledge that the distillate is well-crafted. Fresh straw, green apples, lime, green wood… in short, a very eco-friendly whisky.
The finish is subtly spiced with (green) pepper, further enhancing its character.
This whisky is full of passion and will delight enthusiasts of its style.
