Boire un Macallan, de nos jours, est signe exérieur de richesse tellement les prix d’entrée de gamme sont prohibitifs.
De passage dans mon nouvel entre, Le Col de Cygne à Bruxelles, j’ai pris le temps de déguster la série limitée A Night on Earth, sortie en 2021 et vieilli en fût de Bourbon et de Sherry et ne titrant qu’à 40%
Cette ènième édition limitée (Macallan ne semble produire plus que cela) serait-elle un nouveau prétexte pour mettre un artiste en avant dans le packaging et venir chercher dans le portefeuille du chaland les billets tant attendu par la maison écossaise et ses actionnaires ?
Je tente donc l’expérience et porte à mes tremblantes lèvres, le breuvage expérimenté.
La présence en bouche est aqueuse, comme la plupart des Macallan d’aujourd’hui malheureusement. Les saveurs sont mielleuses, éternellement mielleuse, un miel qui nous accompagnera tout au long du processus de dégustation.
Quelques notes de raisin sec et d’arachides se manifesteront, enrobées de gingembre.
La finale, étonnament longue pour un whisky si liquide, persistera sur les notes de miel et de vanille.
Un whisky d’apero tout à fait acceptable.

Drinking a Macallan these days is a sign of wealth, as entry-level prices are prohibitively high.
During my visit to my new haunt, Le Col de Cygne in Brussels, I took the time to taste the limited edition A Night on Earth, released in 2021 and aged in Bourbon and Sherry casks, with an alcohol content of only 40%.
Is this yet another limited edition (it seems that Macallan only produces limited editions now) a new excuse to feature an artist in the packaging and to extract from the customer’s wallet the much-awaited bills for the Scottish distillery and its shareholders?
I decided to try it and brought the experimental beverage to my trembling lips.
The mouthfeel is watery, like most Macallans today, unfortunately. The flavors are honeyed, eternally honeyed, a honey that will accompany us throughout the tasting process.
Some notes of raisins and peanuts will appear, wrapped in ginger.
The finish, surprisingly long for such a liquid whisky, will persist with notes of honey and vanilla.
A perfectly acceptable aperitif whisky.
